The Research Invested School National Conference will be hosted by Louise McCuaig (Matthew Flinders Anglican College - 0423 761 014) and Tim Barrett (St Andrew’s Anglican College).

- Meet with other research leads to share practice and gain insight into critical success factors from emerging and established research leads and institutes
- Draw on guest provocations and collaborative conversations to Devise a collective and individual School Research Lead Toolbox: principles, practices and policies. This work will explore three key questions:
- Interactive Session 1: What does it take to be a school research lead?
- Interactive Session 2: Who are we as a network?
- Interactive Session 3: How can we enhance collaboration within and beyond the RIS network?
- Chart future collaboration and the strategic directions of research projects

Speakers
Mr Stuart Meade
Stuart Meade has enjoyed a distinguished career and joined Matthew Flinders Anglican College in 2017 as an established leader. Prior, he was Headmaster at one of Australia’s leading schools, Hale School in Perth, for 14 years, and served as Deputy Headmaster at Cranbrook School in Sydney and at Newcastle Grammar School. Stuart is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and was Chair of the Principals’ Advisory Panel of the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (WA), amongst numerous other board roles and memberships. In 2022, Stuart was honoured as a Life Member of Australian Schools Rugby Union for his 34-year volunteer contribution. His overarching philosophy is that a school should develop and nurture the young hearts and minds entrusted to it, inspiring students to learn, lead and serve as they strive for excellence. |
Professor David Livermore
David Livermore, PhD (Michigan State University) is a social scientist devoted to the topics of cultural intelligence (CQ) and global leadership and the author of several award-winning books, including Leading with Cultural Intelligence, Driven by Difference, and Serving with Eyes Wide Open. His newest book, Digital, Diverse & Divided, addresses one of the most pressing issues of our day–how to overcome polarization in our personal and professional relationships. David is a founder of the Cultural Intelligence Center in East Lansing, Michigan, Research Professor at Questrom’s School of Business at Boston University, and a Research Fellow at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. He consults with global organisations around the world, including the Harvard Business School, Google, Coca-Cola, the US Department of Defense, BMW, Qatar Airways, the United Nations, and dozens more. He has traveled to more than one hundred countries and is a frequent speaker at conferences. He also serves on several boards. David loves to make social science accessible to practitioners. He has been interviewed and referenced by myriad news sources, including The Atlantic , CBS News, Christian Science Monitor, The Economist, Forbes, NBC, the New York Times, USA Today, the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal , and the South China Post. |
Professor Doune Macdonald
Professor Doune Macdonald has served as the Head of the UQ School of Human Movement Studies (2004-2013) and is currently the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning) at UQ, having acted as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) in 2022. After an early career in teaching, Doune returned to The University of Queensland (UQ) while undertaking her PhD in Education at Deakin University. In 1998 she won the Australian Award for University Teaching. She has published 16 books and more than 200 book chapters and research papers in curriculum, policy and equity and has undertaken curriculum evaluations for state and national initiatives. Doune serves on the Board of the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) and was the Lead Writer for The Shape of the Australian Curriculum: Health and Physical Education. She sits on the Centre for Youth Substance Use Research Advisory Group, is an International Fellow of the National Academic of Kinesiology (USA) and sits on its Executive Committee, and is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. |
